Zengcheng

Zengcheng ( Chinese  增 城区 , Pinyin Zēngchéng Qū ) is a municipality in the sub-provincial city of Guangzhou in the Chinese province of Guangdong . In 1999 it had 785,265 inhabitants. Zengcheng is known as a production base for jeans; In 2007, 50% of national production was made there.

In mid-June 2011, civil unrest broke out in Zengcheng and there were numerous arrests by security forces.
