Huadu ( Chinese  花都 区 , Pinyin Huādū Qū ) is a municipality in the Chinese city ​​of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province . It has an area of ​​968 km² and about 610,000 inhabitants (2001). The residents of Huadu speak Yüeh (Cantonese) and are Cantonese (as part of the Han people ).

Hong Xiuquan , the leader of the Taiping Uprising, was born in what is now Huadu.

Administrative structure

After an administrative reform on May 28, 2005, Huadu consists of only one street district and seven large municipalities. The district government is seated in the Xinhua (新华 街道) street district.
