The municipality of Panyu / Panyü ( Chinese  番禺 區  /  番禺 区 , Pinyin Pānyú Qū , Jyutping Pun 1 jyu 4 Keoi 1 ) is a municipality in the Chinese city ​​of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province . It has an area of ​​786.15 km² and about 947,600 inhabitants.

The Yuyin Garden ( 餘 蔭 山房  /  余 荫 山房 , Yúyīn Shānfáng , also: 餘 蔭 園  /  余 荫 园 , Yúyīnyuán ) in Panyu's street district of Nancun, the two graves from the time of the Southern Han Empire ( 南 漢 二 陵  /  南 汉 二 陵 , Nánhàn Èr Líng ) and the old quarry in Lianhua Shan in the Shilou street district are on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China .

Administrative structure

At the community level, the district is made up of eleven street districts and eight large communities.

Sports

In 1991, Panyu was one of the venues for the first ever women's soccer World Cup . In addition to four preliminary round games, a semi-final took place at Ying Dong Stadium .
