The former company Zenker-Hausbau GmbH was founded on February 1st, 1963 by Walter Zenker as Walter Zenker KG . The company was based in Michelstadt in the Odenwald . The company produced individually planned prefabricated houses .

Even before the transformation into a limited partnership , Walter Zenker operated the first production facility for prefabricated houses. This was built in Lüchtringen , a district of Höxter , on a former factory site and production started on April 1, 1957. In 1967 production was expanded with a second plant in Michelstadt.

In 1976 the construction company Philipp Holzmann AG took over around 10 percent of the shares and from 1977 was 66 percent majority owner of Zenker-Häuser GmbH & Co. In addition, Holzmann also took over Zenker-Plastic GmbH & Co. KG in Lüchtringen. In 1978 the Federal Cartel Office confirmed the takeover. In 1986 the first plant in Lüchtringen was converted from a production facility into an assembly base for the sales region in Northern Germany.

In 1987 Philipp Holzmann was the sole shareholder and in 1988 the name was changed to Zenker-Hausbau GmbH. The plant in Lüchtringen was largely closed and relocated to Michelstadt. Around 90 workers were affected by the restructuring measures. From 1990 the site was used by Weser-Fenster Lange GmbH from Vahlbruch as a production facility for plastic windows.

Last year under the aegis of Philipp Holzmann AG, Zenker Hausbau GmbH achieved sales of 210 million  DM with 820 employees. On December 31, 1996, Philipp Holzmann AG sold its shares in Zenker-Hausbau GmbH & Co. in Michelstadt and Zenker Hausbau GmbH & Co. in Veitsch to Bien-Haus AG . Bien Haus AG acquired these companies for DM 40 million.

The name has been part of the company name of Bien-Zenker GmbH since 2002 , before prefabricated houses were offered under the Bien-Zenker brand .

subsidiary company

In 1969 Zenker founded Zenker Hausbau Ges.mbH in Veitsch , Austria. With the establishment of Zenker Plastic , based in Höxter-Lüchtringen, in 1972, the product portfolio was expanded. A short time later, Zenker Plastic was renamed Zenker-Fenster .
