The Center for Augustine Research (ZAF), founded in 2001 and located in the Augustinian monastery in Würzburg, serves to research the life and work of Augustine of Hippo . The ZAF is an affiliated institute at the University of Würzburg.

In addition to its working instruments Augustinus Lexicon (AL) and Corpus Augustinianum Gissense (CAG) , the ZAF also offers online information ( Augustinus Literature Portal (ALP) , Bibliography of the Augustinus Lexicon (DBAL) ) on Augustine's life, thought and work.

The scientific director is the Catholic theologian Christof Müller . The CSU politician Oliver Jörg is the chairman of the associated association, the "Society for the Promotion of Augustine Research" . Members of the board of trustees of this association are or were u. a. Alfred Forchel , Bernd Huber , Friedhelm Hofmann , Cornelius Petrus Mayer , Alejandro Moral Antón , Günter Putz , Ludwig Schick and Alfons Tony.
