Günter Putz

Günter Putz (* 1950 in Würzburg ) is a German Roman Catholic priest . He was the dean of the cathedral in Würzburg and until 2019 head of the main department III (university, school and education) in the episcopal ordinariate.

Life

In 1975 Günter Putz was ordained a priest in the Würzburg Cathedral . This was followed by chaplaincy in Ostheim vor der Rhön , Sailauf and Untersteinbach. A year later he moved to the St. Johannes Church in Kitzingen. In 1978 he became Episcopal Secretary and in 1980 Cathedral Vicar . From 1984 he was u. a. Director of the Kilianeum study seminar in Bad Königshofen and religion teacher at the Bad Königshofen grammar school. A little later he became deputy dean. From 1986 he was a postulator in the inquiry process for the beatification of Pastor Georg Häfner .

In 1991, Putz was appointed Ordinariate Councilor and Head of the School and Education Department. He also represented the Episcopal Ordinariate in the Foundation Board of Trustees of the Julianum Study Seminar . In 1993 he became a representative of the Bavarian school clerks in the school-education-culture committee of the state committee of Catholics in Bavaria . In 1997 he became a Familiar of the Teutonic Order .

In 1998 he became cathedral chapter and secretary of the cathedral chapter, and in 2000 he became a consultant for universities and university pastoral care. He also took over the supervisory board and co-editor of the Catholic newspaper Die Tagespost and was chairman of the Franz Oberthür School Foundation of the Diocese of Würzburg . In 2009 he was appointed dean of the cathedral . Upon reaching the age of 70, he resigned from this office on March 18, 2020 .

He has been a member of the KDSt.V. Markomannia Würzburg , in 1983 he became a Würzburg CV pastor.
