The Center for International Studies of the TU Dresden (ZIS) is a central scientific institution of the TU Dresden founded in January 2002 . The center offers the highly respected interdisciplinary course in International Relations. The seat is at George-Bähr-Straße 1b.

Course of study

In October 2002 the center took over the sponsorship of the International Relations course. This is not to be confused with the branch of political science , international relations .

The course is interdisciplinary and combines the topics of international politics , international economics and international law . The course has existed since 1998/99. It is the only German bachelor's degree on the topic of international relations in Germany, while in Switzerland the University of St. Gallen offers a similar degree, while various German universities only offer a master's degree .

Since only about 36 students are admitted to the bachelor's and master's degree each year, but 838 applicants for the 2010/11 winter semester, interested parties are subjected to an extensive written and oral examination.

aims

The ZIS coordinates the course as well as 2 master’s courses with the focus on "Global Political Economy" and "International Organization and Institutions" and the participating chairs for law , political science and economics . The center strives for international cooperation with universities all over the world as well as contacts with non-university research institutions and in the private sector, in order to promote the course as well as research in the field of international relations.
