Center for Organ Research (Vienna)

The Center for Organ Research in Vienna publishes specialist organological literature, particularly on topics related to Austrian organ building, past and present. It organizes international conferences, symposia and organ excursions . Another main task is the creation of a modern organ database in which all Austrian organs are recorded. At the center, organological stocks and legacies are also secured and processed, and master's theses in the field of organ building are supervised and assessed.

The Center for Organ Research emerged from the former Institute for Organological Research and Documentation . Since 2003 it has been affiliated with the Institute for Organ, Organ Research and Church Music , one of the 24 institutes of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . This has been located in the converted building of the former Ursuline convent at Seilerstätte 26 since 1968 .

The institution has been headed by the Linz cathedral organist Wolfgang Kreuzhuber (* 1957) since 2003 .
