According to the main statute, Zernickow is an inhabited part of the municipality of Seelow and is located in the Märkisch-Oderland district in the state of Brandenburg . In 1939 the incorporation to Seelow was completed.

history

The first documentary mention of Zernickow, also known as Czernicow and Zernickow , dates back to February 3, 1317. The name meaning comes from Schwarzdorf (Zerny = black and Czernowic = a black ground) where Czernebog = the black god of the Slavs who settled here.
