The Zhongyuan Buddha ( Chinese  中原 大佛 , Pinyin Zhōngyuán Dàfó ), also known as the Lushan Buddha ( 魯山 大佛  /  鲁山 大佛 , Lǔshān Dàfó ), is a 108 meter high colossal statue in the Lushan district of the Chinese province of Henan . It is also known under the English name Spring Temple Buddha (German about " Spring Temple Buddha"). Construction of the statue began in 1997 and was inaugurated on September 1, 2008. The construction of the statue cost 1.2 billion yuan (about 146 million euros ).

The height of the Buddha statue is 108.448 meters, including the lotus pedestal 127.64 meters. It is currently the third tallest statue in the world (as of 2018). The 80-meter-high multi-storey substructure is part of the entire monument, but by definition is not part of the statue . Together with the base structure, the monument reaches a total height of 208.059 meters.
