Zibreira is a town and municipality in central Portugal . This is where the Gruta da Aroeira cave is located , where the Aroeira-3 skull, the oldest human bone, was found in 2014 . The find was reported internationally after it was published in 2017.

At the beginning of the 17th century the place already existed with its own church.

Zibreira has been an independent municipality since 1758.
