Zinaida Jurjewskaja (* 1896 in Russia ; † August 3, 1925 in Andermatt , Switzerland ) was a Russian soprano .

life and work

Zinaida Jurjewskaja left Russia with her family after the October Revolution and then studied singing in Berlin. In 1922 she made her debut at the Berlin State Opera in Der goldene Hahn ; In 1924 she sang the title role in the premiere of the opera Jenufa . With the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera Jurjewskaja made a guest appearance in Amsterdam in 1925 as Sophie in the Rosenkavalier .

During a vacation in Andermatt, she threw herself into the Schöllenen Gorge .

Based on the tragic end of the opera singer, the local actresses Heidi Danioth and Marielouise Gamma carried out the theatrical tour “Lost in the Deep” in 2019.
