cirrhosis
A cirrhosis ( cirrhosis , formerly cirrhosis ) is a progressive disease process which by connective tissue due to a chronic inflammation of the hardening and shrinkage of a scarred organ and to the destruction of tissue function ( parenchyma leads). It thus represents the common final stretch of a large number of underlying diseases.
Cirrhosis can occur in various organs such as the lungs (for example in tuberculosis ), stomach , pancreas , breast or kidneys ( shrunken kidneys ), but mainly in the liver . The majority of this liver cirrhosis is due to alcoholism and chronic viral hepatitis ( hepatitis B , hepatitis C ).
