The Cistercian Abbey Casbas was 1173-2004 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Casbas de Huesca, Comarca Hoya de Huesca , province of Huesca in Aragon .

history

A Countess of Pallars founded the nunnery Nuestra Señora de la Gloria (also: Santa Maria de Casbas) in Casbas de Huesca, founded by the Bishop of Huesca in 1173, which was settled by the monasteries of Vallverd and Benavides (Peugniez 823) and officially in the 1196 by the Pope Cistercian order was incorporated (consecration of the church in 1208). One of the abbesses was the poet Ana Francisca Abarca de Bolea (1602–1685). In the 19th century the monastery had been under disamortizationto suffer, but could last. In 1988 the outdated convent was rejuvenated by sisters from Mallorca. Nevertheless, it was dissolved in 2004. The buildings, which have been listed since 1979, are now managed by a cultural foundation that belongs to the European Charter of Cistercian Abbeys and Sites .
