Hoya de Huesca ( Aragonese Plana de Uesca ) is a comarca ( administrative unit ) of the autonomous region of Aragon in Spain . It lies mostly in the province of Huesca (but includes the municipalities Murillo de Gállego and Santa Eulalia de Gállego of the province of Zaragoza on) and has an area of 2,525 km² 60,525 inhabitants. Its capital is Huesca , the largest of the 40 municipalities (Municipios) of the Comarca.

The comarca is located in the center of the Somontano region in the province of Huesca and is traversed by the Isuela , Río Flumen and Guatizalema rivers. It lies between the Sotón and Alcanadre rivers and borders the Gratal and Guara mountain ranges .

The province's economy is primarily dependent on agriculture and animal husbandry . The existing industry is mainly metalworking .

In addition to the capital, which has a cathedral from the 13th century, the medieval castle of Loarre is one of the most important sights.

The comarca borders in the west on the comarca Cinco Villas , in the north on the comarcas Jacetania and Alto Gállego , in the east on Somontano de Barbastro and in the south on Saragossa and the Monegros .

The forty municipalities of the comarca are: Agüero , Albero Alto , Alcalá de Gurrea , Alcalá del Obispo , Alerre , Almudévar , Angüés , Antillón , Argavieso , Arguis , Ayerbe , Banastás , Biscarrués , Blecua y Torres , Casbas de Huesca , Chimillas , Gurrea de Gallego , Huesca , Ibieca , Igriés , Loarre , Loporzano , Loscorrales , Lupiñén-Ortilla , Monflorite-Lascasas , Murillo de Gallego , Novales , Nueno , Las Peñas de Riglos , Pertusa , Piracés , Quicena , Salillas , Santa Eulalia de Gallego , Sesa , Siétamo , La Sotonera , Tierz , Tramaced and Vicién .
