The Ribera Alta del Ebro (German Upper Bank of the Ebro ) is a comarca ( administrative unit ) of the autonomous region of Aragon in Spain , which was founded on July 1, 2002. It is located in the west of the province of Saragossa and has an area of ​​416 km² 26,952 inhabitants. This means that the comarca has a density of 64.79 inhabitants per square kilometer. Its capital is Alagón .

The comarca borders in the north on Cinco Villas , in the west on the comarca Campo de Borja , in the south on Valdejalón and in the east on the comarca Saragossa .

Ribera Alta del Ebro includes the municipalities ( Municipios ) Alagón, Alcalá de Ebro , Bárboles , Boquiñeni , Cabañas de Ebro , Figueruelas , Gallur , Grisén , La Joyosa , Luceni , Pedrola , Pinseque , Pleitas , Pradilla de Ebro , Remolinos , Sobradiel and Torres de Berrellén .

The economy of the area was originally characterized by agriculture, especially the cultivation of garden crops , in the fertile areas between the Ebro and its tributary Jalón . Since General Motors established an Opel plant in Figueruelas in 1982 , it has not only dominated the economy of the comarca, but is also Aragon's largest employer, including its suppliers.
