The Jacetania ( Aragonese Chazetania ) is a comarca ( administrative unit ) in the northwest of the Spanish autonomous region of Aragon . It lies partly in the province of Zaragoza (the Municipios Salvatierra de Esca , Sigüés , Artieda and Mianos ) and the province of Huesca . The Jacetania has an area of ​​1857.9 km² 18,664 inhabitants (2010) . The capital is Jaca , in which almost 71% of the comarca's population live.

The Jacetania is located in the Pyrenees and is crossed by the Aragón River . The highest mountain is the Collarada (2,886 m). The comarca borders in the west on the province and region of Navarra (on the Roncal valley ), in the north on France and in the east on the Aragonese comarca Alto Gállego and in the south on the comarcas Hoya de Huesca and Cinco Villas .

In addition to Jaca, Jacetania includes the communities of Aísa , Ansó , Aragüés del Puerto , Artieda , Bailo , Borau , Canal de Berdún , Canfranc , Castiello de Jaca , Fago , Jasa , Mianos , Puente la Reina de Jaca , Salvatierra de Esca , Santa Cilia , Santa Cruz de la Serós , Sigüés , Valle de Hecho and Villanúa .

The roots of Aragon lie in today's comarca: The first county of Aragón existed here .

The main cultural assets of the Jacetania are the Cathedral of Jaca and the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña .

In Canfranc there is an international railway station built in 1928 for traffic with France, which, however, has not been used since 1975, when the line was damaged on the French side, and is in ruins.

In Jacetania there are two of the most important and oldest ski resorts in Spain: Candanchú and Astún .

Every year on June 25th the patronage festival in honor of St. Orosia takes place in the comarca .
