Santa Cilia (de Jaca) is a municipality (municipality) in the foothills of the Pyrenees on the edge of the Camino de Santiago . It is located in the Comarca Jacetania in the province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon . The village of Somanés still belongs to the municipality .
In the village stands the church of Santa Cilia ( St. Cecilia ). The place was named after the monastery of the same name, which no longer exists today. In the middle of the 14th century it lost its independence and was under the monastery of San Juan de la Peña for about two centuries .
geography
The municipality is bordered by Monte Canet (1249 m) in the north and by Monte Cuculo (1552 m) in the south.
The Rio Aragon flows north past Santa Cilia.
Transport links
Santa Cilia is easily accessible via the N-240 from the east ( Jaca ) or from the Puente la Reina de Jaca to the west . The nearest train station is in Jaca, 14 km away, from where there is a regular bus service to Santa Cilia.
The nearest commercial airports are Zaragoza Airport (148 km) and Pamplona Airport (297 km). Santa Cilia has a sports airport, the Aeródromo de Santa Cilia-Los Pirineos .
economy
The main income of the 193 inhabitants is still in agriculture, the area is known for the green asparagus and since 1991 for the production of wine vinegar .
