Ruesta is a place in the Comarca Cinco Villas in the Spanish province of Saragossa in Aragon .

The place is at 554 m altitude in the Pyrenees on the border of Aragon and Navarre . The place has been deserted since 1959, as the inhabitants were evacuated and their lands flooded to build part of the Yesa Dam . Today the area belongs to the municipality of Urriés .

Ruesta goes back to a fortress built by the Arabs, which first fell to Navarre in the 10th century during the Reconquista , whose kings renewed the fortress and founded a monastery. In 1054 Ruesta came to Aragon . Since the Middle Ages, Rueda has been a station on the Camino Francés of the Camino de Santiago , which runs through the valley called the Canal de Berdún .

The place has been managed since 1988 on behalf of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro (Ebro Water Association) by the Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT) trade union , which is undertaking a limited revitalization of the ruined town center, including two hostels for summer tourists and a campsite Has.
