Zaidín ( Saidí in Catalan ) is a municipality in the Huesca province of the Autonomous Community of Aragon in Spain . It is located in the Comarca Bajo Cinca on the left bank of the Río Cinca and belongs to the predominantly Catalan-speaking Franja de Aragón , with the local transitional dialect Saidiné in use.
history
The place first mentioned in 1092 was given in 1333 by the patriarch Juan of Alexandria to the monastery L'Escaladieu , which passed it on to Count Peter of Ampurias in 1358.
During the Spanish Civil War , the area was initially in the Republican- controlled part of Spain. There was an airfield here that was initially used by the Republic Air Force. In the course of the Aragon offensive , the area fell to the National Spaniards. Zaidín later served as a base for the German Condor Legion , including parts of Jagdgruppe 88 .
economy
