history
The place should have been inhabited as early as the Neolithic . In the 19th century he suffered from the clashes of the Carlist Wars and raids by the Bandoleros who had their refuge in the Sierra de Alcubierre . In 1875 the famous bandit El Cucaracha (Mariano Gavín Suñén) was shot here. In July 1936, during the Spanish Civil War , the place was initially taken by Falangists from Saragossa , who killed five republican-minded residents on their retreat, but won them back at the end of the month by troops of the Partido Obrero de Unificación Marxista . As a result, the place was bombed by the Franco government's air force.
