Ayerbe is a Spanish municipality in the province of Huesca in the autonomous region of Aragon .

Ayerbe is located in the comarca of Hoya de Huesca . It is located at an altitude of 528 m in the center of Somontano , about 28 km from Huesca . Ayerbe has a station on the railway line from Madrid to Jaca and Canfranc .

The place has two elongated squares and is grouped around the former palace of the Marqueses of Ayerbe (16th century) and an ensemble of buildings.

The medicine Nobel Prize laureate Santiago Ramón y Cajal (1852-1934) lived for ten years in Ayerbe, where the Museum Santiago Ramón y Cajal is dedicated to him.
