The increasing mechanization of agriculture in the 20th century resulted in a continuous loss of jobs and a significant decline in the number of inhabitants in most of Europe's mountain communities.

economy

In the past, the residents of the place lived directly or indirectly (as farmers, agricultural workers or craftsmen) from farming and livestock farming. In addition, transport work etc. was probably carried out for dealers. Tourism only plays a marginal role in the economic life of the remote mountain community.

history

Tella dolmen

The dolmen of Tella dates from the Neolithic period . Celtic , Roman , Visigoth and Moorish traces have not yet been discovered in the region and it can be assumed that the individual places in the Middle Ages as resting places or as intermediate stations for shepherds and their flocks, and for merchants and their goods on the road from Huesca to Toulouse emerged . It is not known whether the pilgrims also used the route.

Tella
  • The large stone grave (dolmen) Piedra de Vasar , which consists of several bearing stones ( orthostats ) and a large capstone, is the most important testimony to the early history of the southern Pyrenees . Like some dolmens on the French side, it is located far away from the coast at an altitude of almost 950  m and indicates formerly existing paths and hunting areas - possibly even existing settlement areas.
  • The Ermita de San Juan y San Pablo , built almost entirely from rubble stones, was donated in 1019; It is one of the oldest preserved buildings in Aragón , along with the small church of Santa María in the Castillo de Loarre . The small church was later rebuilt and given a crypt .
  • Other hermit churches are the Ermita de Santa María de Faixaniellas and the Ermita de Santa María de la Peña .
  • The Iglesia den San Martín , which dates back to the 16th century but is still almost entirely made of rubble, is located a little outside of today's town center. Its most striking component is the bell tower (campanar) , the corner stones of which - as usual - are precisely carved.
Sin
  • The center of the hamlet of Sin is the Iglesia de San Esteban , which was also built in the 16th century .
  • The Casa Gambel is a multi-storey building with several loggias belonging to a rich merchant family from the 17th or 18th century.
Badaín
Revilla
  • The cross-shaped church of the place has Romanesque origins, but it was later changed in parts.
  • The three- story Casa Vicente was probably a former merchant's house.
