Cistercian Abbey L'Étanche
The Cistercian Abbey L'Étanche (also: L'Estanche ) was a French monastery of the Cistercian women in Rollainville in the Vosges department from 1148 to 1792 . It is not to be confused with the Premonstratensian Abbey of L'Étanche .
history
The Tart Abbey settled the nunnery Notre-Dame de l'Étanche (from étang = pond ) founded in 1148 east of Neufchâteau , which was partially destroyed in the 17th century, temporarily abandoned and relocated to Neufchâteau, but was completely rebuilt in the 18th century. Of the monastery, which was closed by the French Revolution in 1792, part of the convent building (but not the church) remains (privately owned).
