Cistercian Abbey of Les Ayes
The Cistercian Abbey of Les Ayes (also: Les Hayes ) was a monastery of the Cistercian women in Crolles , Isère , in France from 1142 to 1791 .
history
Guigues IV. (Albon) and his wife Margarete founded the nunnery Les Ayes (Latin: Haia , French also: Les Haies or Les Hayes ) in 1142, fifteen kilometers northeast of Grenoble , which was dissolved by the French Revolution in 1791 . In Crolles, the street name Avenue de l'Abbaye (with La Croix des Ayes distributor ) reminds of the former monastery. The abbess house that remains is used as a residential building ( Rue Elsa Triolet ). The monastery mill is also still standing ( Chemin du Meunier ).
