Cistercian Abbey of Leyme
The Cistercian Abbey of Leyme was a French monastery of the Cistercian sisters in Leyme , Département Lot , diocese of Cahors from 1220 to 1790 .
history
The monastery, founded in 1220 and closed by the French Revolution in 1790, was known under various names during its existence: Lumen Dei (“God's light”), Gratia Dei (French: la Grâce-Dieu , “God's grace”), Eremus (from the Greek eremos = Desert, see German "Eremit"), Herm , Lem (from L'Herm) or Leyme . Several priories were subordinate to the monastery : Lissac (in Lissac-et-Mouret, Département Lot, Peugniez p. 224, Méry p. 332), Vic (in Capdenac , Peugniez p. 224, Méry p. 333), Costejean (in Saint- Antonin-Noble-Val , Peugniez p. 229, Méry p. 348), La Lauzière (in Montamel, Département Lot) and Les Bouysses (in Mercuès, Département Lot). A home for the disabled has been located in the monastery buildings since 1835 (today: Institut Camille Miret with Center Hospitalier Jean-Pierre Falret ).
