Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val ( Occitan : Sent-Antonin ) is a French commune with 1,852 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val belongs to the arrondissement of Montauban and the canton of Quercy-Rouergue (until 2015: canton of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Antoninois .
geography
Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val is located at the confluence of the Bonnette and Aveyron rivers . Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val is surrounded by the neighboring communities Caylus in the north, Espinas in the north and northeast, Féneyrols in the east, Saint-Michel-de-Vax and Vaour in the southeast, Penne and Cazals in the south, Montricoux and Saint-Cirq in the Southwest, Septfonds in the west and Lavaurette in the northwest.
The former route nationale 658 (today's D5) runs through the municipality .
history
In the caves at Aveyron, paintings of the Franco-Cantabrian cave art as well as numerous tools and artefacts made of bones from the period between 18000 and 12000 BC were discovered.
During the Middle Ages, Saint-Antonin or La Valette was the seat of a viscount . In the 17th century the place became a stronghold of the Protestants.
