La Ville-Dieu-du-Temple is a commune in south-western France in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . It has 3,191 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), belongs to the arrondissement of Montauban and is part of the canton of Castelsarrasin . The inhabitants are called Théopolitains .

La Ville-Dieu-du-Temple lies in the plain of the Tarn , at its tributary Larone . La Ville-Dieu-du-Temple is surrounded by the neighboring communities Labastide-du-Temple and Meauzac in the north, Barry-d'Islemade in the northeast, Albefeuille-Lagarde in the northeast and east, Montbeton in the east and southeast, Escatalens in the south, and Saint -Porquier in the southwest and Castelsarrasin in the west.
The former route nationale 658 (today's Départementstraße 958) runs through the municipality .
history
The place was founded in the 12th century by the Knights Templar, who set up a command post here. With the fall of the Knights Templar, the Order of Malta was enfeoffed with the village in the 14th century.

- Neo-Gothic style church built in 1865 to replace the Notre-Dame church, which was demolished during the French Revolution
