The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Montauban and the canton of Beaumont-de-Lomagne (until 2015: canton of Verdun-sur-Garonne ). The inhabitants are called the Bourretois .

Bourret is located about 16 kilometers southwest of Montauban on the Garonne . Bourret is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cordes-Tolosannes in the north and northwest, Escatalens in the north and northeast, Montech in the east, Mas-Grenier in the south, Saint-Sardos in the southeast and Montaïn in the west.
