Montech is a French commune with 6349 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on the Garonne in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . It is the capital of the canton of the same name in the arrondissement of Montauban . The place is on the national road RD 928 and the Autoroute des Deux Mers (A62).

The Garonne Lateral Canal forms the extension of the Canal du Midi west of Toulouse . Both channels together allow a navigable connection between the Mediterranean , near Sète , and the Atlantic , near Bordeaux . The community is known nationwide above all for the water wedge boat lift on the Canal latéral à la Garonne (German: Garonne side canal ). In Montech, the Canal de Montech (German: Montech Canal ) branches off as a branch canal to Montauban .
