It is part of the canton of Aveyron-Lère , was previously part of the canton of Nègrepelisse and is located in the arrondissement of Montauban . The inhabitants are called Vaïssagols .

Vaïssac is about 17 kilometers east of Montauban . Vaïssac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nègrepelisse in the north, Puygaillard-de-Quercy in the east, Monclar-de-Quercy in the south, Génébrières in the west and south-west and Saint-Étienne-de-Tulmont in the west and north-west.
