Castanet ( identical in Occitan ) is a French commune with 289 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). Castanet belongs to the arrondissement of Montauban and the canton of Quercy-Rouergue (until 2015: canton of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val ). The inhabitants are called Castanetois .

Castanet is about 39 kilometers northeast of the city center of Montauban . Castanet is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vailhourles in the north, La Rouquette in the northeast, Monteils in the east, Najac in the south and southeast, Ginals in the south and southwest and Parisot in the west.
