Varen ( Occitan : Varenh ) is a French commune with 654 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). Varen belongs to the arrondissement of Montauban and the canton of Quercy-Rouergue (until 2015: canton of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val ). The inhabitants are called the Varennois .

Varen is located about 45 kilometers northeast of the city center of Montauban . The Aveyron limits the municipality to the south. Varen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Verfeil in the north, Najac in the northeast, Laguépie and Le Riols in the east, Saint-Martin-Laguépie in the east and southeast, Milhars in the south, Montrosier in the south and southwest and Feneyrols in the west and southwest.
