Montbartier is located about twelve kilometers southwest of Montauban on the Canal latéral à la Garonne . Montbartier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montech in the north and northwest, Bressols in the northeast, Labastide-Saint-Pierre in the east, Campsas in the southeast, Bessens in the south, Monbéqui in the southwest and Finhan in the west. The motorway junction of the A62 autoroute with the A20 autoroute is located in the municipality . The municipality's train station is on the Bordeaux – Sète railway line .
