The Cistercian Abbey of Santa Ana was 1604-2009 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Malaga in Spain .

history

The in 1604 Calle Cinco Bolas Cistercian monastery, founded in the city of Málaga Abadía de Santa Ana de Recoletas Bernarda del Císter , also known as Abadia del Císter , moved in 1617 to the present street Calle Císter and in 1878 (after the disentailment rebuilt). After the restoration in 1990, it housed the remains of the sculptor Pedro de Mena y Medrano in 1996 , as well as a museum of sacred art. In 2009 the monastery was closed for lack of vocations. The remaining four nuns went to the Cistercian Abbey of La Calzada . The religious association Hermandad del Sepulcro has been based in the buildings since 2014 .
