Diogo Barbosa Mendanha , called Diogo , (born August 17, 1992 in Terra Nova do Norte , Mato Grosso ) is a Brazilian football player . The left-footed is mainly used as a left defender. Alternatively, he runs on the left side of midfield.

Career

Diogo started his career in the junior areas of Vila Nova FC from Goiânia and CR Vasco da Gama from Rio de Janeiro . At Vasco, he made the leap into the club's senior squad in 2010. In his very first competitive game, he entered the top Brazilian league, the Série A. Against local rivals Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , Diogo was in the starting line-up on October 24, 2010 on match day of the season . During the season, four more missions followed in the competition.

At the beginning of the 2011 season, the Série B Club Sport Recife Diogo committed. Here he came that year to three games in the championship and two in the state championship of Pernambuco . In the following year, there was only one game in the Copa do Brasil 2012 .

At the end of the loan at the end of 2012, Diogo moved to Guarani FC in Campinas , where he played 14 games in the São Paulo state championship . After the competition was over, he moved to Coritiba FC in Curitiba . With this he entered the series again. Diogo also played his first game in an international club competition with Coritiba that season. In the Copa Sudamericana 2013 he was in the starting line-up in the home game against EC Vitória on August 28, 2013 . After the end of the season, Diogo changed clubs again for the following year. He was signed by Cruzeiro EC of Belo Horizonte . At the time of his engagement, 50% of the transfer rights were held by Coimbra Esporte Clube and a private company. With the club he won the Copa do Brasil 2017 , the first title success of his career. In the competition Diogo played 13 games in which he scored a goal.

On November 14, 2017, Cruzeiro announced that Diogo would be leaving the club at the end of the season. Diogo was sold to SE Palmeiras in São Paulo . The transfer fee was 22 million real . Of this, 16 mil. to investors who held the majority of the transfer rights. Cruzeiro received 6 mil. The move was accompanied by disagreements in the management of Cruzeiro. The future president of Cruzeiro from 2018, Wagner Pires de Sá, and the coach Mano Menezes wanted to keep Diogo as a player. Pires de Sá had already reached an oral agreement with the Diogo investors for 25% of the 1 mil. Pay real. National team

In an interview on September 1, 2017, national coach Tite said of Diogo that he would be an alternative to Alex Sandro from Juventus Turin and Jorge from Flamengo Rio de Janeiro should Marcelo fail. An appointment to the squad was not made.
