Cistercian Sezemice Abbey
The Cistercian Abbey of Sezemice (German: Sezemitz ) was a monastery of the Cistercians in Sezemice nad Loučnou in today's Okres Pardubice in the Czech Republic from 1265 to 1421 .
history
Shortly after 1260 the Sezemice convent was founded east of Pardubitz on the Elbe and in 1268 it was incorporated into the Cistercian order . The supervision was carried out by the Hradiště Monastery . The monastery received donations from Queen Elisabeth Richza of Poland, among others . In the course of the Hussite Wars , the monastery was devastated and abandoned in 1421. The current parish church of Sezemitz is the last existing building from the time of the monastery.
