Vauxbons Cistercian Abbey

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cistercian Abbey of Vauxbons (also: Valbaion or Vauboin ) was a French monastery of the Cistercian women from 1175 to 1394 in Vauxbons , Canton Langres , Haute-Marne Department , in the Diocese of Langres .

history

Under the supervision of the Abbey of Tart , the Cistercian convent Vauxbons was founded around 1175 west of Langres in what is now the village of Vauxbons. The name is derived from the Latin "Vallis Baonis", later Val Baions , Vauboin or Vauxbons (historically also: Baon ). The Cistercian abbeys Auberive and Longuay were 13 and 17 kilometers away, respectively . Vauxbons was officially closed in 1397 (effectively 1405) (after the devastation caused by the Hundred Years War ). Remaining possessions went to Auberive and Longuay. There are no residues.
