The Cistercian convent Boos was 1231-1240 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in the district Boos in Ebersbach-Musbach in the district of Ravensburg in Baden-Württemberg .

history

Beguines from Mengen in the district of Sigmaringen and those who were constituted as a community in Seefelden (later in Alt-Birnau ) in 1227 , founded in 1231 (with the support of the abbot of Salem Monastery , Eberhard von Rohrdorf ) in Boos (5 km southeast of Bad Saulgau and 20 km southeast of Mengen) a nunnery, which was founded in 1236 by Pope Gregory IX. confirmed as Cistercian.

The first abbess was called Anna von Frankenhofen († 1244). Since the convent in Boos was not well received by the local nobility, in 1240 it moved to the Baindt monastery , founded by Konrad von Winterstetten 18 km southeast of Boos . However, Boos remained connected to this monastery and since 2003 a parish hall has been named after the first abbess of the monastery.

The processing of the monastery history is largely thanks to the Cistercian priest Leodegar Walter (1883–1962), who was born in the neighboring village of Lampertsweiler (today: Bad Saulgau).
