Peter Vuust
Peter Vuust (born November 15, 1961 ) is a Danish brain researcher and jazz musician ( double bass , composition ).
Live and act
Vuust studied mathematics, French and music at Aarhus University and then worked as a musician for ten years. After a medical doctorate in 2006, in which he dealt with polyrhythmics using the methods of functional integrative neuroscience , he has headed a research group since 2007 that researched the processes in the brain when making music. As a professor, he has headed the Danish Center for Music in the Brain at Aarhus University since 2014 . He wrote the books Polyrytmik og -metrik i modern jazz (about the quintet by Miles Davis ) and Musik på hjernen (2017).
As a jazz musician he worked with Michael Bladt; he leads his own groups, with which he has released several albums; As a studio musician, he has participated in a large number of other publications, such as by Gheorghe Zamfir . The album September Song , recorded with the singer Veronica Mortensen , was nominated for the Danish Music Award in 2014 as “best Danish vocal jazz album ”. He also composed for Thera Hoeymans.
