The Cistercian monastery Santísima Trinidad has been a monastery of the Cistercian women in Breña Alta , La Palma , since 1946 .

history

The Cistercian monastery of San Ildefonso (Teror) founded the Monasterio de la Santísima Trinidad ("of the Holy Trinity"), founded by the Marquesa Dolores Van de Walle y Fierro in 1946 on the Canary Island of La Palma in Breña Alta (400 meters above sea level ), also known as "El Císter". In 2000 new buildings were inaugurated. Prioress Bernardita Socorro Gómez died on January 28, 2017 at the age of 92. The convent, which belongs to the Cistercian Congregation of San Bernardo (CCSB) , began with twelve nuns, but is now outdated.
