Cistercian monastery of Fatima
The Cistercian monastery Fatima between 1967 and 2016 American monastery of Cistercian in Mount Laurel , Burlington County , New Jersey , Roman Catholic Diocese of Trenton .
history
At the invitation of Bishop George William Ahr , the Italian monastery Casamari founded the monastery Our Lady of Fatima in 1967 (after ten years of effort), 45 kilometers from Philadelphia in the then tranquil Mount Laurel. The monks also took on pastoral duties. Since the development of the up-and-coming city was not conducive to the necessary tranquility of the monastery and there were no local vocations, the monastery belonging to the Congregation of Casamari was closed by Abbot Eugenio Romagnuolo in 2016 after the death of Prior Lino Parente (1938-2015).
