history

Edmon María Garreta i Olivella (1921-2017), longtime abbot of the monastery Poblet , founded at the end of his term in 1967 with several brothers in Solius, part of Santa Cristina d'Aro, in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Girona , the monastery of Santa Maria de Solius , the 1987 Priory was raised and whose 50th anniversary he still lived. The architect Joaquim Maggioni i Casadevall (1931–1995) erected monastery buildings around the already existing (and widely visible) local church of St. Agnes from the 18th century (with a medieval core). The (currently nine) monks specialize in bookbinding and book restoration. The monastery library is considerable. A special attraction of the monastery is a crib museum .
