Ziti

Ziti are a type of pasta . Ziti are elongated, tubular, hollow and have a smooth surface like bucatini , but with a diameter of about 7 to 9 mm. Ziti is derived from the Neapolitan zita for bride as it is a traditional wedding meal .

Alternative names are: Boccolotti, Zitoni, Zituane and Candele .

They are usually sold as long noodles and, according to the culinary tradition of southern Italy, are broken before cooking and only then placed in the saucepan. They are also available as short noodles.
