Levente Péter (born April 25, 1986 in Miercurea Ciuc ) is a Romanian ice hockey player who has been playing at HSC Csíkszereda in the Romanian ice hockey league and the MOL league since 2010 .

Career

Levente Péter, who belongs to the Hungarian-speaking Szekler minority in Romania , began his career at HC Csíkszereda , for whom he played in the Romanian ice hockey league at the age of 16 . In 2009 he won the first edition of the multinational MOL league with the team . When the club had to stop playing for financial reasons despite this success, Péter switched to SCM Fenestela 68 Brașov , for whom he also played in the MOL league. In 2010, however, he returned to his hometown and has played there for HSC Csíkszereda ever since . With the traditional Szekler club in Miercurea Ciuc, he won the MOL league again in 2011 and the Romanian national championship in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and the national cup competition in 2011, 2014 and 2016 .

International

In contrast to other Szeklers who compete for Hungary , Péter plays internationally for his native Romania . He was already active in international tournaments as a junior: he played at the U18 World Championships in 2003 in Division II and in 2004 in Division I. In the U20 field, he competed in Division II in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 .

Péter made his debut in the men's national team at the World Cup in Division II in 2010 . Also in 2011 he played with the Romanians in Division II, when promotion to Division I was achieved at the tournament in Zagreb . He contributed one goal and five assists. He then played in Division I in 2012 and 2013 .

He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014 .
