Trembling needle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A trembling needle - also called en-tremblant - is a needle that bears an artificial ornament on a cylindrical, screw - or spiral-like wound wire and is attached to the jewelry. That ornament moves with the slightest movement of the person putting it on, hence the name. Nowadays the term trembling needle is hardly known. The term belongs to the epoch of Sturm und Drang , where a trembling needle was a respected ornament of the middle class.
