Civil Code (disambiguation)
A civil code regulates, like the body of law referred to elsewhere as the (general) civil code (abbreviated ABGB or BGB) - civil law . This codification of private law has its origins in the French Civil Code Napoleon Bonapartes . The following legal works are known under the title " Civil Code ":
German-speaking area:
- the Swiss Civil Code ,
- in Belgium and Luxembourg the official German versions of the Code Civil applicable there ,
- in South Tyrol the Italian civil code applicable there, the Codice civile
as well as in the history of Germany
- the civil code of June 19, 1975 in the German Democratic Republic and
- the Code Civil from the so-called French period (e.g. in Cologne ), which was valid in some parts of Germany until the introduction of the nationwide civil code at the end of the 19th century.
Non-German-speaking areas: Many other civil law codifications are also known in German translation under the title "Civil Code", including:
- the Dutch Civil Code ( Burgerlijk Wetboek ) of 1838,
