Ziya Şanal

Ziya Şanal (born March 3, 1956 in Balıkesir , Turkey) is a civil engineer trained in Germany who was appointed founding rector of the Turkish-German University in Istanbul .

Şanal received her doctorate in 1985 at the Ruhr University Bochum at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and published several specialist books in the field of engineering mathematics. Most recently, he worked as a professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Applied Sciences in Munich . He was appointed founding rector of the Turkish-German University by the Turkish President Abdullah Gül on October 13, 2010.
