Ziyad Abu Tir

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ziyad Abu Tair (also Ziad Abu-Tir ; * 1973 in Abasan ) is the senior member and high-ranking commander of the so-called "Islamic Holy War", the military wing of Islamic Jihad in Palestine .

Ziyad Abu Tir was allegedly killed on December 29, 2008 as part of Operation Cast Lead in the Israeli Air Force (IAF) bombing of the Islamic University in Gaza City . The Israeli newspaper Haaretz wrote this without citing the source. In addition, three other members of the organization died. The IAF justified the attacks of December 28th and 29th with the existence of a bomb workshop in the university.

This information contradicts the report by Arutz Sheva , in which it is said that on December 29th, Ziyad Abu Tir was attacked by an Israeli air-to-ground missile at his home in Chan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip or in a car near the village of Abbasan, east of Chan Yunis. His brother, nephew and two other people are also believed to have been killed.
