Změna per Kolín

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Změna pro Kolín (German "change for Kolín") is a political association or grouping in the city of Kolín in the Central Bohemian region of Středočeský kraj . It emerged in November 2009 as a loose association of non-party committed citizens. She first appeared in local elections in 2010, when she immediately won eight seats and appointed the mayor of Vít Rakušan, who was then still non-party .

history

Změna pro Kolín was established in 2009, at a time when the city was ruled by two traditional parties, the ODS and the social democratic ČSSD , through which the voters did not feel represented. The first successes came in the local elections in 2010, when the Vereinigungä won the election convincingly and its main candidate, Vít Rakušan, was elected mayor: Změna pro Kolín received 23.48 pronts and 8 seats.

The extraordinary success in the local elections was attributed in the media, among other things, to the fact that a corruption scandal of the ODS was uncovered shortly before the elections: the then deputy mayor Roman Pekárek (ODS) demanded a bribe of one million crowns on the occasion of the sale of municipal land, the mayor Jiří Buřič (also ODS), who supposedly knew about it, kept this to himself. Pekárek was later sentenced to five years in prison.

program

One of the side effects of the time before the local elections in 2010 was - apart from a corruption affair - an enormous debt of the city (a little over 30,000 inhabitants) with over 1.1 billion crowns, which came about through mismanagement and incorrect planning in the previous administration. One of the main points of the election manifesto was the continuous repayment of debts without the population and the city's most important projects having to suffer. The focus was and still is on areas such as education, environmental protection (expansion and maintenance of green spaces, sorting of waste), traffic (diversion roads for trucks), improvement of the location and living conditions for the needy, as well as renovation of some urban areas and reconstruction of the urban sewerage system. At the end of 2018 it was possible to reduce the debt to 470 million crowns (halved).

Local elections in Kolín 2010, 2014 and 2018

Změna pro Kolín received 23.48 percent of the vote and 8 seats in the 2010 local elections, ODS fell to 11.89 percent (2006: 40.31 percent) and 3 seats and the ČSSD received 18.85 percent (2006: 16, 84 percent) and 6 mandates. After the election, the coalition Změna pro Kolín , Kolíňáci (14.45 percent of the vote; also an association of non-party candidates) and TOP 09 (9.27 percent of the votes) were formed, which represented a change in the political situation in the city.

The electoral successes of the association in 2010 were by no means short-lived, Změna pro Kolín was able to repeat them and improve them considerably. The results of the last three local elections in Kolín in detail
